ATMOSPHERIC EMISSION LICENCE APPLICATIONS
Please refer to the following information below in regards to AEL Applications.
If any additional information or assistance is required, we welcome you to contact our offices for more detail on the matter.
It is vital that companies apply for the AEL by transferring from a APPA or via the so called 24G route.
A meeting was held by the Ekurhuleni Implementation Task Team on Tuesday, 18 February 2014 and herewith some of the important points tabled at the meeting.
1) Ekurhuleni have made the 31st March 2014 the cut-off date for all AEL applications to be submitted for the transfer from an APPA permit to an AEL. Any application after this date will not be accepted. A 24G application will be initiated and the industry will face possible closure of business.
2) Industries that do not have an APPA permit would automatically require a 24G. The usual process is that they wait for feedback from Ekurhuleni regarding the AEL and then initiate the 24G based on their response. However, the cut-off date for all 24G applications is 31st March 2014. Any industry that does not have an APPA and has not conducted a 24G application will face serious consequences and possible closure of business. It is highly recommended that Foundries proceed with the AEL and 24G application as soon as possible (i.e. before the end of March).
there are several of these meetings that occur throughout the year. It was suggested that a representative from the association represents foundries at these meetings to raise any concerns.
