The South African Institute of Foundrymen (SAIF) is offering two courses in the following
- Sand & Moulding Sands
- Quality Control
This training initiative is supported and subsidized by the
National Foundry Technology Network (NFTN), a proud initiative of the dti
The Sand & Moulding course will be presented by Dr. Didier Nyembwe and
the Quality Control course will be presented by Mr Johan Prinsloo,
both specialized experts in their fields
The Sand & Moulding Module will consist of seven sections covering inter alia, the following:
- Moulding Sands
- Basic Test for Green Sands
- Other Test for Sands
- Principles of Moulding
- Mould Shakeout Systems
- Sand Storage and Handling
- The Pattern
The Quality Control Module will consist of fifteen sections covering inter alia, the following:
- Basic Concepts
- The Quality Gurus
- Company Wide Assessment of Quality
- Quality Improvement and Cost Reduction
- Control of Quality
- Supplier Relations
- Manufacture
- Inspection and Inspection Techniques
- Introduction to Measurement
- Quality Tools
- Quality Techniques
- Quality and Waste Elimination
- Quality Statistics
- Statistical Quality Control Charts
- Acceptance Sampling Inspection
These course is directed at team leaders, first line supervisors, operations managers
and maintenance personnel in foundries.
Learners are only permitted to register for one module at a time,
as both modules will be running at the same time.
Training will commence on Saturday, 10 May 2014
The courses will run over 8 – 10 weeks and will finish on 26 July 2014

There will be no lectures during the University Exam Week (31 May – 18 June 2014)

Cost Per Student: R 750.00 for the entire course.
