INVITATION FOR COMPANIES TO PARTICIPATE IN ENERGY ASSESSMENTS
The AIDC was established to increase the level of global competitiveness of the South African automotive industry whilst developing the Gauteng Province as an automotive industry investment destination of choice. The AIDC works in partnership with all tiers of government, industry leaders or representative bodies in the sector, organised labour and other nongovernmental agencies to unlock economic growth within the automotive industry.
The AIDC has partnered with the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC) to promote the implementation of Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production (RECP) methodologies. In this programme, companies are assisted to identify opportunities to lower production costs by means of reduced energy, water, materials usage and more efficient waste management. Key activities in the programme include:
- Energy, water, waste and material assessments to gauge the current level of consumptionand identify opportunities for reduction.
- Energy and Utilities Business Analysis is performed to gauge areas for immediateimprovement.
- Energy and Utilities Specialists are employed to formulate methods to improve energyand utilities usage.
- The RECP and energy efficiency assessments also includes carbon foot-printing which canbe a useful tool to provide companies with a mechanism to assess and understand their current energy usage trends and set targets to reduce their usage and emissions.
- Training workshops and one day introductory sessions on the principles and benefits of energy management systems and energy systems optimisation are presented in conjunction with the NCPC.
- Detailed reports including recommendations are provided to participants at the end of the assessment.
- The assessment is three months long.
- The assessment will be funded by the AIDC and NCPC, so there is no cost to the company.
