SAIF AGMThe 50th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of members of the South African Institute of Foundrymen, was held on Tuesday, 13th May 2014 at Reading Country Club, in Alberton. Forty-two SAIF Members attended the event.We have pleasure in introducing the new Council Members and wish them success in their term.
Sadly Mr Dias, former past president of the institute passed away on Friday 16 May 2014. He will be greatly missed. |

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT TRAINING COURSESThe popular Saturday morning training courses continue to be presented in Gauteng and the Western Cape. A course started in June 2014 in Kwa-Zulu Natal. The Sand and Moulding Short Course is currently running at UJ, presented by Dr Didier Nyembwe. Forty six learners are registered for the course.There are also two classes of the Quality Control Short Course currently running at UJ. The first class was presented by Johan Prinsloo, with 38 learners registered for the course, and the second class, presented by Nigel Brain with 33 learners registered.Sand & Moulding Short Course commenced in KZN at the beginning of June, presented by Xolani Matebese at the Premier Hotel in Pinetown, with 13 learners registered for the course.

METAL CHINA 2014The BRICS Union meeting and exhibition was attended by John Davies with much interest from many local and international suppliers as well as local Chinese foundries exhibiting castings.![]() ![]() Apprentices from the Gauteng Foundry Training Centre (GFTC) visited Guestro and Vaal University of Technology in June. The visit was arranged by SAIF to introduce these learners to the industry and foundry operations. ![]() |
